About 'Meera Bhajan: Divinity sung in love’s tune'

Payoji maine Ram rattan dhan payo...
(I have got a precious jewel by the name of Rama)

This is a Meera bhajan about Rama from a singer known for her absolute devotion to Krishna. Though uncharacteristic of Meera, as Rama is also an incarnation of Lord Vishnu like Krishna, the song of praise to Rama is understandable. This bhajan is known to have been one of the favourites of Mahatma Gandhi.

The singer, Dr. Deepti Omchery Bhalla is a musician with strong base in the Carnatic and Hindustani styles of music. She is currently a Professor in Carnatic Music at the Faculty of Music, University of Delhi. A multifaceted artiste, Dr. Bhalla is proficient in Indian classical dance forms like Mohiniyattam and Kathakali.
