About 'Folk dance from Bodo tribe, Assam'

It is a folk dance from the state of Assam performed by the Bodo tribals. The Bodo represents one of the largest ethnic groups of the Brahmaputra valley. The Bodo community is very rich in culture and has varieties of folk dances like Kherai dance and Bagurumba or Bardwisikhla dance as their artistic wealth.

The colourful costumes worn by the women dancers and their graceful body movements make this particular dance fascinating. Accompaniments of the traditional musical instruments like cham, siphung, jotha, charinda and cymbals make this dance more exquisite.

This video clip has been shot at the venue of Octave 2008, a cultural extravaganza of northeastern states of India held at Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala.
