| Invis Multimedia brought out the CD-ROM “Ayurveda: The Mantra of Niramaya” a mini enclycopedia on Ayurveda, the Indian Systems of Medcine in the year 2001. This is the first interactive CD on Ayurveda, playable in Windows and Mac systems. Besides accuracy of subject and simplicity in presentation, aesthetic appeal of the content was given special importance, as the CD was intended for international audience.
Mural paintings were specially created for presenting mythological history of Ayurveda. The biggest challenge was in documenting treatment methods. Treatment rooms and facilities were created in studio sets. Professional models from advertising industry were selected to act as patients and therapists. The logic was that any person who wants to watch the therapy scenes more than once may find it difficult to do so with video clips of actual disease conditions.
Some of the best professional models of advertising industry were contracted to act as patients. Trisha Krishnan, who became a renowned actress of Tamil and South Indian film industry later and Isha Shervani, who became a renowned actress of Bollywood later were among the models. Others include Madhavi, Hardeep, Arathi, Harsha, Sridhar Rao, Anil and Emil. Though Trisha had not started film acting in those days, she was popular as an advertisement model. Trisha was also active in beauty contests and became Miss Chennai. Later Trisha became a finalist in Miss India contest. Isha was active in theatre. Isha was also an expert in Yoga postures.
As part of video production, the models who came to act as therapists were given rigorous training in various massages of Ayurveda like foot massage, body massage, head massage, powder massage, oil massage etc. They were also given training in Ayurveda treatment methods like Snehadhara or oil bath, Ksheeradhara or milk bath, Avagaha sweda or steam bath, Kizhi or poultice etc. Besides Ayurveda, training was given in Panchakarma methods too. It took nearly three years to complete the production of this CD-ROM. The outcome was one of the best multimedia reference titles for Panchakarma and Ayurveda. Also a Coffee Table Book and DVD were published on Pachakarma. These titles won prestigious national and international awards audio visual products and books. |
