Directed by Gyan Mukharjee and produced by Bombay Talkies, Kismet released in 1943 is the All-Time Blockbuster film in Hindi film industry. A major success, the film Kismet ran three years in a theatre at Calcutta.
The film, released during the time of second world war, deals with bold themes showing an anti-hero character and an unmarried girl getting pregnant. The film gave one of memorable patriotic songs to the Hindi film industry - Door Hato O Duniyawalon Hindustan Humaara hai (Go away outsiders, India is ours). The music of the film is by Anil Biswas and in this film he introduced ‘Full Chorus” for the first time in Indian film industry.
The film has some of the famous songs like Ghar Ghar Mein Diwali, a lullaby, Dheere Dheere Aa. Ashok Kumar, Mumtaz Shanti and Shah Nawaz were the major actors appeared in the film.
Later, Kismet film has been remake to Malayalam as Kanakachilanga and Prema Pasam in Tamil.
