About 'Jamdani Cotton Materials from West Bengal'

Bengal has its own place in the handloom tradition of India. It is famous worldwide for the fine fabrics like muslin, silk and cotton. Jamdani weaving is the popular style of Bengali handloom and is woven in different fabrics. Jamdani cotton sarees and kurtha materials are of high quality and long lasting.

Jamdanis are mostly woven in lightly dyed backgrounds with designs in white, maroon, black, green, gold and silver. The Tangail Jamdani fabric is an elaborate style in cotton weaving found in cotton textile materials. Tangail, which comes from Fulia, has a fine texture of its own.

Surajkund Crafts Mela, India’s one of the most celebrated fairs on handloom and handicraft tradition. The village like venue of this fair is Surajkund in Haryana, near to Delhi- Haryana border.
