Lac craft from West Bengal

These are the rare products made of Lac from the state of West Bengal in the Surajkund Crafts Fair held at Haryana. The fair is a celebration of Indian handicraft and handloom tradition held annually in the month of February. It is organized by Haryana Tourism.

Lac, a kind of resin collected from the forest and mainly used for making attractive ornaments. Various types of wall hangings and costume jewellery are made from Lac. Splendid colours are blended with it to make these artifacts.

Lac ornaments like bangles and hair pins are famous. Other artifacts like vases and pencils are also made from this. West Bengal’s Lac wall hangings are really attractive. Religious themes and various figurines of animals are featured on them.
