About 'Silk handloom from Assam'

The culture of Assam is incomplete without silk and silk weaving. The state is famous for its silk handloom and the weavers craft various varieties of silk such as endi, muga and pala.

Muga silk is the most popular among this and is noted for its beautiful golden colour. Endi derives its name from the castor leaves on which the silkworm feeds. This silk has a yellowish tinge and is available in both rough and smooth varieties. It is used in winter for warmth. Pala is the mulberry silk.

Featured in the video is the silk handloom from Assam, the tea estate of India, in Dilli Haat, the food brasserie and craft bazaar located in Central Delhi.
