The hill station of Munnar dotted with tea plantations and colonial mansions is today South India’s most popular hill station. Anamudi, South India’s highest peak is located near Munnar. Nelliyampathy in Palakkad district on the northern side of the state and Ponmudi in Thiruvananthapuram district on the southern side of the state are two other popular hill destinations. Vagamon in Idukki district known for adventure tourism hosts the annual International Paragliding Festival. The place is described as the Scotland of Asia. There are several hill destinations in the districts of Wayanad and Idukki frequented by travelers and tourists from round the world.
