Kathakali is one of the oldest theatre art forms in India and is a popular dance drama which originated in Kerala. The performance in this dance form is a blend of dance and music and is based on the tales from Hindu mythology. Usually the singers stand towards the back of the stage and sing while the costumed dancers mime out the story centrestage.
