600-year-old mosque at Ponnani, Malappuram

Jama-at Mosque,  a 600-year-old mosque at Ponnani in Malappuram is an important pilgrim centre of the Muslims of Kerala. And this mosque has given Ponnani the name, ‘Mecca of the East’. 

Adjoining the mosque is the mausoleum of the Martyrs of Malappuram whose brave exploits have been immortalised in the Mappila Ballads.
