About 'Aadikkumpara Sree Puthiya Bhagavathy Temple'

Aadikkumpara Sree Puthiya Bhagavathy temple, located at Thaliparamba in Kannur district of Kerala. The temple is dedicated to Sree Puthiya Bhagavathy Karinchamundy. It is situated near the Sree Raja Rajeswara temple.

Once in two years, the grand Kaliyattam festival is held in the temple. Spectacular theyyams including Puthiya Bhagavathy, Karinchamundy, Theechamundy, Veeran, Veerali and Gulikan are performed.

Kaliyattam is the ritualistic performance of Theyyam and Thira. Theyyam, the colourful ritualistic dance is an integral part of the culture of Malabar, the region comprising the northern districts of Kerala.

Special rituals and Chendamelam (traditional drum ensemble) are other highlights of the Kaliyattam festival of Aadikkumpara temple.
