Museums

A sojourn down the magnetic and resplendent alleyways of the past is what museums for most people are. By definition it denotes a permanent institution in the service of society, which acquires, conserves, researches, communicates and exhibits the tangible and intangible heritage of humanity and its environment. Museums often serve as an upright source of information about culture and history that enable us to explore collections for inspiration, education and enjoyment. There are ever so many types of museums in our country depending on the nature of collections exhibited which include the fine arts, applied arts, anthropology, archaeology, botanical and the like.

The Kolkata (Calcutta) Indian Museum, situated in West Bengal is considered to be the earliest and the best museum in the country.
