Villagers for ages have been viewing eclipses especially solar eclipses as bad omens. Despite modern scientific awareness many sill hold tight to their benefits. It was because of these beliefs that hundred and thousands of people too a holy dip in the river ganges and ponds across the country during the occurrence of a partial solar eclipse recently. They believe that a holy dip during the eclipse will protect them from evil forces and will bestow on them prosperity.
