Suresh Elamon
Writer, Naturalist, Wildlife Photographer, Wildlife Film maker
Have been studying, photo/video documenting and writing about the biodiversity of Southern Western Ghats for the past thirty years. From 1978 to 2001 worked as a banker in State Bank of Travancore. After opting voluntary retirement, Suresh Elamon is now into full time natural history writing, wildlife film making and organizing biodiversity tours.
He has published photographs and written articles in several magazines and journals like The Indian Express, The Hindu, Frontline, Reader’s Digest, Swagat and Namaskar. A book written for children ‘Butterflies’ bagged two State Awards for being the best popular science book for children.Suresh Elamon has made several video documentaries on the biodiversity of Western Ghats. One film ‘In Quest of the Frogmouth’s Nest’ was a finalist in the BBC Wild Screen 2002. Another film on butterflies of Periyar Tiger Reserve ‘Angels in Tigerland’ bagged the award for Best Cinematography 2007; it also bagged the Best Film Award in the Vasundhara Wildlife Film Festival 2009.
Suresh’s latest film ‘Bal Pandi’ – A Life for Birds' has been nominated to Varavarn 2009 India and 7th Matsalu Nature Film Festival Estonia. |
