While the struggle for Freedom was gaining strength in India, Gandhiji travelled the length and breadth of the country to mobilise the masses. He always preferred to live like a poor man of his country and no wonder, walking was his favourite mode of travel.
The historic Dandi March that played an important role in the Freedom struggle was a march taken out on foot by Gandhiji and around 78 satyagrahis from Sabarmati Ashram to Dandi, a coastal village in Gujarat covering around 390 km distance.
