Boot Polish- 1954

Boot Polish, released in 1954 is a film about two orphaned children, a wicked aunt, a bootlegger. A sentimental tale, Boot Polish was produced by Raj Kapoor and was directed by Prakash Arora.

A realistic story of the street children in Bombay who were forced for begging and a bootlegger in the street bring two children (Belu and Bhola) to the right path and persuades them to earn their bread by polishing boots.

Baby Naaz, Ratan Kumar and David did the lead roles in this film. Without mentioning Baby Naaz’s performance, Boot Polish film is incomplete. So impressive and spontaneous was her performance as Belu and had won several international awards. She also won a special jury mention at the Cannes Film Festival for her role in Boot Polish.

The film was also noted its catchy music by Shankar Jaikishan. Songs like "Nanhe Munne Bachche," "Chali Kaun Se Des," and "Lapak Jhapak Tu Aa Re Badarwa" are some of the classic songs from black white era of Bollywood.
