Memorial to the first Mughal emperor; Babur

Inside the Humayun’s tomb complex  towards the south east corner of the garden lies a picturesque tomb of red stand stone, known as Babur’s Tomb. It is a memorial to Babur, the first emperor of the Mughal kingdom. It is also known as Nai Ka Gumbad.

Built in the 16th century the huge building stands on a square platform and consists of a single room covered with a double dome. Inside the dome one can see  two marble graves with Koranic inscriptions.

Outside the dome  is the main structure, a pavilion (chhattri) that still retains the remains of blue, green and yellow tile inlay. Babur’s Tomb is located at Nizamuddin in New Delhi, India.
