Ratholsavam at Kalpathi, Palakkad

This video shows the Kalpathi Ratholsavam (chariot festival), which is an annual festival held at Sri Viswanatha Swamy temple, Kalpathi in Palakkad district, Kerala state of India. It is a week long festival and the streets of Kalpathi village will be filled with devotion during these days.

It is one of the popular festivals in Kerala and is celebrated during the month of November. Along with the festival some cultural programs are also held in the temple.

During the last days of the festival, the big chariots of the temple which are very well decorated are drawn through the streets of Kalpathi by thousands of devotees.

It is a ritual which is believed to be very old. Many people including tourists become the part of this grand festival.
