Nagaland –a north-eastern state of India

Nagaland is one of the seven north-eastern states of India. Featuring in this video are typical layouts of houses in villages of Nagaland.

This beautiful hill state is located in extreme north-east of India and is bordered by the state of Assam in the west; Myanmar (Burma) in the east; state of Arunachal Pradesh and parts of Manipur state in the south.

Nagaland is blessed with green valleys, picturesque landscapes, streams, high mountains and a rich variety of flora and fauna. Nagaland is predominantly a tribal state. The major tribes of the state are Ao, Angami, Chakhesang, Zeliang, Rangma,
Lothas, Zunheboto, Sumi, Konyak, Yimchunger, Khiamniungn, Pochurya and Sangtam
.

Kohima is the state capital of Nagaland and is also a famous hill station destination. Dimapur is the largest city and is an important commercial centre of Nagaland. Nagaland is the only state in India where the official language is English.

Nagaland is also noted for traditional handloom and handicrafts products. Some of these are Naga shawls, shoulder bags, wood carvings and bamboo baskets.
