Hawa Mahal in the City Palace complex, Jaipur

Hawa Mahal also known as the Palace of Winds is an excellent example of Rajput artistry. Hawa Mahal is often used as a synonym for Jaipur, the capital city of Rajasthan. It was constructed in 1799 by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh and is a part of City Palace complex at Jaipur (Pink City) in Rajasthan state, India.

This five storey building is pink in colour and is delicately made of honeycombed sandstone jharokas (small windows). Hawa Mahal is dedicated to Lord Krishna and his lover Radha. From the Hawa Mahal one can overview the city of Jaipur. The women of the palace sat at these windows to enjoy the breeze and view the bustle of the city without themselves being seen.

Shown in the video are the Hawa Mahal and adjacent City Palace Museum exhibits at Jaipur. The City Palace Museum inside the Palace complex has a unique collection of the carriages once used by the Kachwaha rulers of Amber.
