Artist playing the Rajasthani morchang

Here is an artist playing the Rajasthani morchang or Jaw harp or Jew’s harp. A string instrument played by holding it between the teeth, the morchang produces a unique tone. Jew’s harp augments to both Hindustani and Carnatic music.

Famed as lamellophone, it is made of a flexible metal or bamboo tongue or reed attached to a frame. The reed is placed in between the teeth of the performer and played by tapping it with fingers. This video was shot from Jaisalmer, a very old town in Rajasthan, India.
