Prakasam Barrage which stretches 1223.5 meter long across the Krishna River serves to prevent flooding in the state of Andhra Pradesh. The barrage also serves as a road bridge. One can also see the three canals associated with the barrage and a panoramic lake which run through the city of Vijayawada. 

The Prakasam Barrage project has helped in the irrigation of huge agriculararl lands in the state. The placid waters make this one of the major travel attractions in Vijayawada.
