Melappadam by renowned artistes

Presented here is an excerpt of Melappadam performance by some of the all time favourite percussion artistes of Kathakali in Kerala. performed in this video in Chenda are Kalamandalam Krishnankutty Poduval and Kalamandalam Achunni Poduval; in Maddalam are Kalamandalam Appukutty Poduval and Chalakudy Nambeesan.

Kalamandalam Krishnankutty Poduval has been credited with lending audio support on the chenda to emotional scenes on the Kathakali stage. His art, in tandem with the late maddalam maestro Kalamandalam Appukutty Poduval, has won wide appreciation from audiences.
