Large numbers of devotees from various parts of India and abroad are thronging the famous Kamakhya temple in Guwahati to take part in the third 'Kameswari' music and dance festival. Situated atop Nilachal hills, the temple is dedicated to Goddess Kamakhya, consort of lord Shiva, Hindu God of destruction. Kamakhya temple is considered the principle seat of the Hindu cult of Shakti.
