With the 1957 film Pyaasa Guru Dutt shifted from his thrillers and comedies to more pessimistic and gloomy aspects of life. The film undoubtedly is one of Guru Dutt’s best works. The film narrates the life of poet his thirst for love recognition and spiritual fulfillment.
Guru Dutt directed, produced and acted in the film opposite Waheeda Rehman and Mala Sinha. Music for this film was composed by S.D. Burman and lyrics by Sahir Ludhianvi. Mohammad Rafi, Geeta Dutt and Hemant Kumar rendered their magical voice to some of the best songs of Bollywood in this film. Song like Jaane Kya Tune Kahi, Jinhe Naaz Hai Hind and Yeh Duniya Agar Mil Bhi Jaaye are from this film.
