The National Institute of Design popularly known as NID is one of the foremost design institutes in India. Its main campus is located in the city of Ahmedabad in Gujarat. Established in 1961 under the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, this internationally acclaimed institute promotes learning in design education, applied research, training, design consultancy services and outreach programmes.

NID, a multidisciplinary institute, has mainly three campuses – Heritage Campus in Ahmedabad, PG Campus in Gandhinagar and R&D Campus in Bangalore. The industry training programmes being offered from NID main campus and in off-campus locations have helped in upgrading working professionals through Continuing Education Programmes.

The institute believes that good design is good business and it contributes to the concept of design in India, made for the world. NID has been recognized as a Scientific and Industrial Research Organization by the Department of Science & Technology, Government of India.
