Odissi, a classical dance form is said to have originated in Orissa and is one of the finest dances within India. It was performed mainly in temples long ago.
Like in other Indian classical dance forms it also contains body movements along with skilled acting. The main theme for Odissi dance has been taken from Hindu mythology.
This video shows Pallavi, a dance bit from Odissi which means elaboration to both dance as well as accompanying music. It is marked by elegant and lyrical movements.
