Green house for walnuts in Kashmir

Farmers in Kashmir valley are generally not very enthusiastic about growing walnuts because of its long gestation period. It takes about 10-15 years. But now the Horticulture Department of Jammu and Kashmir state, India, is introducing a new green house technology to boost walnut production. Some four thousand walnut trees have been planted by the department in hi-tech green houses in an effort to revive farmers’ interest in walnut growing.
