The partly snowcapped mountains on the way to Manali from Ladakh during the summer months, unveil its rugged rocky surfaces with its slopes and valley floors often occupied by herds of ruminants. The mountain highway connecting Ladakh in Jammu and Kashmir and Manali in Himachal Pradesh is open to transport only during a certain period in a year, basically during summer.
