It is perhaps the most reliable of transports on the placid waters of the Dal Lake. Shikara, the cute little vessel that plies on the famous Dal Lake in Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir State of India besides serving as a popular means of transport for visitors also doubles up as floating shops. Visitors are often approached by local people on their Shikaras, selling locally available fruits, traditional handicrafts, ladies’ specialties and other curios.
