Thrissur Pooram of Kerala, South India is a grand festival, which is a medley of colorful pageants, elephants, hours of parasol displays, fireworks and orchestra, where two temples of Thrissur, namely Paramekkavu and Thiruvambadi, vie with each other to put up a better display.

Pooram chamayam is a sort of dress display conducted on the previous day of the festival at venues close to the Vadakkumnathan temple in the heart of Thrissur town.

The gold caparisons of the elephants, parasols, and all types of ornaments that will be used for the festival are displayed there for the benefit of tourists and other pooram enthusiasts.
