The chariots of Chettikulangara Bharani

Chettikulangara Bharani festival is another unique festival of Kerala in South India that is held annually at the Chettikulangara Sree Bhagavathi Temple in Alappuzha (Alleppey).

The highlights of this festival are the kettukazhcha processions in which huge decorated chariots proceed from different points in the village with offerings to the temple and finally converge at the temple premises by the evening.

The festival falls between mid-February and mid-March, which corresponds to the month of Kumbham as per the Malayalm calendar. A similar colourful and well-attended festival is celebrated between mid-March and mid-April, in the following month of Meenam.
