About 'Elephant Pageantry at Anayadi Temple'

Anayadi Pazhayidam Sri Narasimha Swami Temple at Sooranad is a major pilgrim centre in Kollam district, Kerala. Anayadi literally means the footsteps of the elephant.

The temple’s principal deity is Narasimha, the lion headed incarnation of Lord Vishnu. The ten days long festival is celebrated in the Malayalam month of Makara (January- February).

The concluding day is marked by a grand elephant pageantry, in which eighty odd tuskers take part. The procession will have traditional temple orchestras as accompaniment. This is a real visual treat.
