Erumeli Petta Thullal - ritual dance at mosque en route to Sabarimala

Erumeli Petta Thullal is a Hindu religious ritual practiced by devotees as part of their pilgrimage to Sabarimala. Thullal means frenzied dancing. Petta thulllal is a frenzied dance accompanied by loud music created by traditional instruments of the region. The place Erumely is important to both Muslims and Hindus. The famous Vavar mosque and a Sastha temple are situated here. The Vavar of the mosque is considered as a devotee of Lord Ayyappa. So the pilgrims visit this place to dance and donate money to the mosque.
