Thrissur Pooram, a grand temple festival of Kerala, South India is known as the ‘festival of festivals’ and is perhaps the best festival legacy that Kerala has got.

The fireworks (vedikettu) display that goes on for several hours towards the end of Thrissur Pooram is a dazzling show in the sky. Though ten temples participate in the event, the major participants are the Paramekkavu and Thiruvambadi temples. The fireworks are held at the Thekkinkad Maidan (maidan means ground) near the Vadakkumnathan Temple.
