About 'Akshi tarpana – eye care in Ayurveda '

Treating the eyes by applying medicated oil is known as Akshi Tarpana or Netra Vasthi in Ayurveda. The patient is made to lie on his/her back on the droni and a tank of flour paste, is made around the eyes. Medicated ghee is then poured gently into the tank over the patient’s closed eyes. After sufficient unction has been poured, the patient is made to open and close eyes intermittently for a period not exceeding five minutes.

Hi Sir/Madam,

I would like to seek for advice if
you can provide any solution. My Son (1
year 7month) has got torn his eye cornea (right) due to hit with kitchen cabinet
edge on the 21st April 2008. The injury or a cut was right at the center of the
aye. Dr had stitched the cornea on 28th April 2008 and removed the stitches
after one month.

Dr had advice that the scarce will
be there forever, therefore he will not be able to get back his 100%
vision. They can not confirm his vision
level until he grow big and able to tell how much he can see via eye assessment
test. We can go for cornea transplant but for children
this may not be very successful because their tolerant/co-operation level is
very low as compared to adult. And according to doctors they have got
experience many failure in this cornea transplant for children. So they
advice us not to go for cornea transplant.

The only hope that doctor gave was, wait for the scarce to heal as
minimum as possible so that he can get as maximum vision as he can. I am sure
there would some solution can be acquire from
your end for the scarce to be heal/go off/slim.

Pls advice me what would be the best
treatment for my son’s future. Please advice me also if you can refer me to any
of your branch if you have in Malaysia.
