Yellow-Wattled Lapwing

Featured in the video is of the bird Yellow-wattled lapwing, a plover or a shorebird, belonging to the subfamily Vanellinae of Charadriidae under the common class Aves. It is known by the name Vanellus Malabaricus in the scientific world. Like other lapwings, the Yello-wattled lapwing also lays eggs on the bare ground, occasionally where a depression ringed with a few pebbles is seen. This bird is a close relative of Red-wattled Lapwing, another plover.

Yellow-wattled lapwings are medium sized birds with pale brown colour and with a black crown. The yellow coloured facial wattles entitle these lapwings to have their name. They have white coloured underparts and black tipped white tail. The long legs which make them able to wade along the shores are yellow in colour.

Yellow-wattled lapwings feed on insects and invertebrates. In India they are very common in the dry areas of lowlands.
