About 'Waterscape Resorts – cottages on stilts'

Kumarakom in Kottayam district is a beautiful backwater destination. Mangrove forests, labyrinthine backwaters and a bird sanctuary located here attracts tourists to this land.

The Waterscapes resort, nestled in the mangrove woods surrounding the lake, is an ideal place to enjoy your holidays. The resort is run by the State-run Kerala Tourism Development Corporation (KTDC).
Designed by famous architect Mr. Gerard da Cunha, the resort is spread over seven acres of lake-front property.

Accommodation is offered in independent thatched cottages built on stilts at about eight feet above the ground.

The cottages are accessible by a narrow pathway or rowboat.

Kumarakom is a major houseboat cruise destination in the state.

The Bay Island Driftwood Museum located nearby the hotel houses a good collection of artistic driftwood sculptures.

The land is also famous for the annual boat race held here in commemoration of the visit of Sree Narayana Guru, the great social reformer of Kerala.
