SM Street is the abbreviated form of Sweet Meat Street (mittayi theruvu in Malayalam). It derives its name from its streets lined up with sweet meat shops. It is the busiest shopping spot of Kozhikode with its criss-crossing roads and shops selling a wide variety of things. This street is most famous for the bakeries here and especially the delicious halwa.
