Muhamma Coir Village

Muhamma village in Alappuzha, Kerala, is a major hub of coir making activity. The presence of backwaters make easier the wetting of coconut husk, the raw material for coir making. The fibre derived from the husk is turned into coir and other products like mats, bags etc. What is seen in the video is the sorting out of fibre from the husk and the turning of it into coir and mats.
