About 'Karumadikuttan - the black granite idol'

Karumadikuttan is one of the ancient Buddhist images in Kerala and is located at Alappuzha. This statue is believed to be of Lord Gautham Budhha in a sitting position. This black granite structure is assumed to be old as far as 9th to 14th century and is now a place of worship. This mammoth and imposing stately statue is located on the banks of Punnamada Lake.
