Alappuzha in Kerala, South India also known as Alleppey, is a town of crisscrossing canals and lagoons and is referred to as the Venice of the East.

Alappuzha has good beaches and it abounds in backwaters, which are ideal for cruising. Houseboats are available for stay and cruising for which different types of packaged tours are offered to tourists.

Tourists can go on a cruise on the backwater from Alappuzha to Kochi, and to places like Kumarakom, Nedumudi or Thottappally or can just go round the town.
