Toddy, extracted from coconut and other palm trees is a natural alcoholic beverage. Locally known as kallu, toddy is very popular in Kerala, especially in Alappuzha. A large number of toddy shops are found in the villages of Alappuzha. But Punchiri, one of the toddy shops in Alappuzha district has something special.

Seen in this video are people enjoying their favourite toddy as they sing at the Punchiri toddy shop along with some visitors from abroad. This toddy shop has been aptly named Punchiri, which means ‘smile’ in Malayalam.
