Thrissur Pooram is a grand festival and cultural event of Kerala in South India symbolized by grand fireworks, procession of elephants, parasol displays, and elaborate orchestras using a combination of percussion instruments and wind instruments.
The celebrations continue for more than a week. Though the dates vary from year to year, it falls between April 15th and May 15th. The venue of the event is the famous Vadakkumnathan temple.
Traditionally ten temples participate in the festival and compete in the celebrations, the main ones being Paramekkavu and Thiruvambadi temples. Chembukkavu temple shown in this video is a participant of the pooram festivities.
