Mannu Bhandari was born on 3rd April 1931. She is a well known Hindi novelist and short story writer. She is famous for her two novels Aapka Banti and Mahabhoj. She belongs to the Nayi Kahani movement in Hindi literature.

Yahi Sach Hai is a novel by Bhandari which has been adapted for the film, Rajnigandha. The dialogue in the famous film Swami directed by Basu Chatterjee was written by Bhandari.
