About 'Viswanatha Temple, Khajuraho'

Belonging to the Western group, Viswanatha temple is one of the most developed and finest temples of Khajuraho, Madhya Pradesh. The temple is dedicated to Lord Vishwanatha (Shiva) and has a Nandi shrine opposite to it.

The temple houses some of the most exquisite sculptures of Khajuraho. They include figures of sura sundaris (heavenly beauties), erotic couples, and celestial beings. These sculptures are famed for their poise and grace.

Included in the UNESCO World Heritage List for their ‘outstanding universal value’ and ‘human creative genius’, the Khajuraho group of temples even now exists as one of the fine monuments in the world itself.
