Pratapgarh Fort, Maharashtra

This video features Pratapgarh Fort, a famous defensive position built by Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in 1656. This is a place of historical importance and it is situated around 24 km away from Mahabaleshwar in Maharashtra state of India. The Fort is situated at the top of a mountain and you have to climb around 450 steps to reach it.

Since this fort is situated at the mountain top, you get to see a panoramic view of the Konkan Valley. There is a watchtower in this spot which could be seen miles away from this place. It was in Pratapgarh that the Sirdar of Bijapur Afsal Khan was killed by Shivaji.
