Presented here is a video of Dr. M. Prasad, Ayurveda doctor and the Director of Sunethri Ayurvedashram & Research Centre at Thrissur in Kerala, India, telling about the importance of Ayurveda and Pathyam (diet regimen) in Ayurvedic treatment.
A healthy lifestyle and a specified diet regimen (pathyam) together form an integral part of Ayurvedic treatment. Unhealthy lifestyle, nature of occupation, bad food habits etc., show a direct connection with a person who is affected by diseases. And while diagnosing, the physician will analysis all these factors.
Prescribing medicines that alleviate the symptoms alone cannot be called ‘Shudha Chikitsa’ (pure treatment). Shudha Chikitsa not only aims at the alleviation of the disease, but also eradicates the causes that manifested as illness. Therefore to achieve good results of the treatment one should observe a specified diet regimen along with a change of life style if necessary.
