| Video clips of Munnar, one of the famous tourist destinations of Kerala, is located in Idukki district. Located at about 1600 m above sea level the hills of Munnar are spread over the Rajamalai ranges of the Western Ghats. Picture book towns, sprawling tea plantations and winding lanes make holidaying in this hill station memorable. Munnar is known for the Neelakurinji flowers that bloom once in twelve years. Anamudi, South India’s highest peak is also located in Munnar. Eravikulam National Park , 15 km away from Munnar, is situated in Devikulam. Eravikulam National Park was set up to protect the endangered Nilgiri Tahr (Varayadu). Marayoor about 40km from Munnar is known for Muniyaras (dolmens) which shows the existence of human inhabitation in the hills even in the megalithic age. The placid lake and dam in Mattupetty attracts a lot of tourists. Another attraction of Mattupetty is a specialized dairy farm managed by the Indo-Swiss livestock project. Around 100 varieties of high yielding cattle are reared here. Other interesting places in an and around Munnar are Attukad, Chithirapuram, Lockhart Gap, Rajamala, Echo Point, Pallivasal, Anayirankal, Topstation, Chellarkovil in Kumily, Kundala plantations, Kundala lake etc.
