A maestro in Sitar, Ravi Shankar’s musical life sprouts from the holy city of Varanasi. It is said that a magic occurs in the strings, when sitar comes into the hands of Ravi Shankar. He is a well known musician and composer.
Anoushka Shankar, who follows her father’s path, has emerged as one of the leading figures in world music. With three classical sitar recordings, Anoushka, Anourag and Live at Carnegie Hall, she is in increasing demand as a touring artist, and over the years she has established herself as a reputed classical sitarist. She and her half-sister Norah Jones were nominated for Grammy awards in 2003.
